From EW’s Spoiler Room:

Are we done with the Bracken storyline on Castle? — John
If I had to guess, I’d say not so much. Showrunner David Amann says that although most of the storytelling surrounding Beckett’s mom is done, there is a “Bracken-related storyline that presents later in the season.” “We like Bracken as a character,” he says. “We think he’s an interesting person to access and there may be a reason moving forward to go back to him again.” Now the question is: Does it have to do with Castle’s disappearance?

Here's what Bellamy Young said about Daniel Douglas:

TVLINE | What are we going to do about Sally Langston’s handsy husband? He seems sweet on the First Lady….
I can assure you that knowledge is power, and that Mellie and Cyrus will capitalize on that bit of knowledge. They know that Sally has a weakness, and you do not want to show a weakness to Mellie or to Cyrus.

TVLINE | I can’t imagine that you hire Jack Coleman to just play a flirty rube. He probably has some sort of game of his own in play, right?
Yeah, he’s no joke. He’s formidable, you’ll see. The storyline is worth the wait. You find out a lot this week.

As a bonus, a tidbit from TV guide about Jack's role in Castle

Can you give me any more information about the senator Beckett will meet on Castle? — Riley

ADAM: The character, played by Heroes alum Jack Coleman, will have "compelling information" about Beckett's mother's murder — compelling enough that she will likely call on him throughout the season, creator Andrew W. Marlowe tells us. But Beckett may not like all the things she learns as she finally closes her mom's case. ""It's going to spin our characters in a different emotional direction," Marlowe says. "Once Beckett has that knowledge, what's she going to do with it and who is she going to become?" In other words: Closure may not exactly equal contentment.

Jack Coleman Castle

Navigating the fallout from her tryst with Ricky C may be the least of Beckett’s problems this season on Castle.

TVLine has learned exclusively that Heroes vet Jack Coleman is joining the show’s fifth season as a new antagonist for Stana Katic’s detective.

According to series creator Andrew Marlowe, Coleman will play a “well-liked U.S. senator who finds himself in conflict with Beckett.”

Ironically, Coleman’s most recent role was also rooted in politics: For the past two seasons he recurred on The Office as Angela’s state senator boyfriend Rob Lipton.
